The Leadership Skills Foundation is proud to accredit British Fencing’s new Leadership Through Fencing award, a programme designed to help young people develop essential leadership and employability skills through fencing.
This innovative award uses fencing as a platform to build confidence, communication and teamwork, supporting young people as they progress through education and into employment.
Building leadership skills through fencing
Leadership Through Fencing is aimed at young people aged 11–17 and is delivered in schools, clubs, Scout groups, activity providers and leisure centres. Through a range of practical activities, participants develop key leadership skills that can be applied both within sport and in everyday life.
The award focuses on five essential skills:
- Communication
- Confidence
- Teamwork
- Organisation
- Problem solving
On completion, learners achieve a nationally recognised, Leadership Skills Foundation-accredited award, recognising their development as a Fencing Leader.
Supporting quality leadership opportunities in sport
By accrediting the Leadership Through Fencing award, the Leadership Skills Foundation continues to ensure that national governing bodies and young people across the UK can access high-quality, structured leadership development opportunities through sport.
