ESG Statement | Leadership Skills Foundation

ESG Statement

Our vision is for everyone to be empowered to shape their future and lead their communities.

In addition to the social impact of empowering young people to develop essential leadership skills, we recognise our role in working towards effective environmental, social, and governance (ESG) working practices.

To support this commitment, the Leadership Skills Foundation’s progression towards net-zero carbon impact is supported by a virtual operating model (reducing the need and frequency for private travel) in addition to the implementation of more sustainable procurement and recycling policies with providers committed to sustainability goals.

As outlined in the Leadership Skills Foundation’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion policy, we seek to promote a culture of trust, openness and belonging through enablers such as our Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, Disability Confident Employer status, maintaining flexible working arrangements and providing comprehensive wellbeing programmes that are valued by our team members.

We aim to ensure beneficiaries of our leadership programmes are representative of the general population by working with local partners in schools, colleges, and community-based groups across the country. We continually seek to improve data to ensure we can target and address real or perceived barriers to engagement.

Our collaborative working practices and transparent reporting to our fully-independent, skills-based voluntary board of Trustees assures robust governance. Collaboration with like-minded organisations underpins our ambition to build a more inclusive and sustainable future.

Further ESG aims under consideration between 2025-2028 include:

  • Potential for alignment of strategic priorities and aims with wider macro- social objectives such as UN Sustainability Goals.
  • Updating and implementing a Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Action Plan following independent external review.
  • Funded expansion of leadership programmes within underserved communities and/or under-represented individuals.
  • Improved data processes to support ESG (and other) decision-making and measurement.
  • Continued alignment with charity governance best practices.
